Lisbon’s luxury scene welcomes its latest, marvellous addition, with the finest attention to detail and breathtaking views that are the epitome of luxury

The moment you enter the soaring tower of Corinthia Lisbon, you are transported into a luxurious world adorned with sleek design, beautiful fresh flowers all around, and the most efficient staff who make you feel at home. It’s easy to understand why the hotel has been a favourite among business travellers and discerning guests visiting the Portuguese capital for years, and its latest addition – the Maritime Suite – is proof of how its legacy is more alive than ever.
STYLE & DESIGN Part of a recent £20 million refurbishment, the six new coastal-chic Maritime Suites at Corinthia Lisbon are everything and more a demanding guest could dream of. A palette of light blues, greys and creams welcomes you to a Hamptons-style living room featuring wood flooring and bespoke furniture from local Portuguese craft workers. Part of it is a beautiful studio room, with a vast wooden desk and a selection of books and magazines, which makes for the perfect setting to catch up on emails. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide stunning views over Monsanto Natural Park and the impressive 18th century Águas Livres Aqueduct – one of Lisbon’s most iconic sights. The magic continues in the bedroom, with a desk facing the breathtaking views, a super king-size bed, and a walk-in wardrobe worthy of Chiara Ferragni. The bathroom is a marble heaven, featuring double wash basins, a spacious rain shower that can welcome two, and a gorgeous freestanding bathtub overlooking the city and attached to a little, elegant sofa area, which is ideal to relax with a book whilst sipping a glass of Port next to the window.
The Maritime Suite was designed by the prestigious G.A Group – the designers behind luxury destinations Belmond Cadogan in London and JW Marriott Hotel Nara – and it’s simply a joy to check-in to. Enjoying in-suite breakfast or afternoon tea on the beautiful marble coffee table in the living room will make it particularly hard to check-out, and the excellent turndown service won’t help either, surprising guests with deliciously authentic pastéis de nata, in addition to other gourmet sweet treats. Adding to the suite’s relaxing vibe are marvellous artworks specially commissioned by three local artists; Diogo Navarro, Susana Bravo, and Maria Antónia Santos, reflecting the city’s close relationship with the sea.
VIP TREATMENTS When it comes to pampering, the 3,500 square metres spa at Corinthia Lisbon is a lavish oasis, offering treatments from world-renowned spa and skincare brand, ESPA. Its latest menu addition is a treatment called ‘A Portuguese Journey’, inspired by the country’s spirit of discovery and incorporating local ingredients from the coast, as well as spices such as clove buds and cinnamon brought to Europe by Portuguese navigators. A vast swimming pool and a state-of-the-art gym are ideal to kick-off the day or spend a couple of hours at complete leisure.
THE FOOD The Chef Miguel Teixeira-led restaurants at Corinthia Lisbon confirm the tower’s status as a destination of its own. Erva offers an eclectic mix of locally sourced cuisine, with highlights including cod tempura with garlic mayonnaise and citrus, the freshest burrata with truffle, tomato and rocket (not always available as it’s imported straight from Italy a couple of days a week), and slow cooked ribs served with creamy sweet potato puree. The Instagram moment is undoubtedly the Explosion of Senses – a Leblon and Ancho Rays-based cocktail served inside a matryoshka doll. For fun lunches al fresco with sunlight streaming through the tropical foliage, the Soul Garden is the place to be. Asian-Portuguese sharing plates, delicious cocktails and a beautiful urban garden setting with wooden furniture make for a location like no other in the heart of Lisbon.
This Lisbon outpost keeps the bar high for the Corinthia brand, through an impeccable service, first-class wellbeing and dining experience, and new suites that would make a king feel at home.
The Maritime Suite at Corinthia Lisbon starts from £1,020 per night (two sharing), including breakfast, and access to the hotel’s Sky Lounge and The Spa.
